NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - As the weather heats up, the Audubon Nature Institute announced plans to reopen its two popular water attractions.
The Cool Zoo and Gator Run, its lazy river, will open for its 2017 season on April 14.
Audubon says both attractions will be open daily to coincide with most students' spring break, from April 14 through April 23. After that, the water park will be open on weekends only from April 29 through May 26. The schedule goes back to daily openings from May 27 through August 11. Then the weekends-only schedule resumes until its closing day on September 4, Labor Day.
"When the temperature goes up, it's a perfect time to cool down at Audubon Zoo. And this year, Audubon is offering families a savings opportunity with the new Zoo + Cool Zoo combo discount,'' Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO Ron Forman said.
The new Zoo + Cool Zoo Combo ticket is $29.95 for adults (13-64), $24.95 for children (2-12) and $26.95 for seniors (65+).
Gator Run is a lazy river that's 750 linear feet in length and three feet deep. Visitors float on inner tubes around two sand beaches and near water cannons that spray people.
The Cool Zoo features a water slide, soakers and shady spots.
Audubon posted admission to the Cool Zoo and Gator Run is $10 for zoo members and $12 for non-members, plus zoo admission.
