NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Master P is holding open casting for his biopic, "King of the South."
Auditions will take place Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Historical Carver Theater, 2101 Orleans Avenue.
Master P wants to give his story an authentic feel and look in retelling his story, from his upbringing in the Calliope projects to making it on the Forbes Top 100 list.
The rapper is looking for unknown actors to play starring roles.
"I believe there are so many talented actors and actresses that just need a shot," he said.
The rapper changed the music game in the 1990s, selling over one hundred million records independently under his label No Limit. To date, No Limit is one of the most successful hip hop labels.
"The timing is right for me to tell my story," he said. "It was tough back then, especially being from the South. New Orleans was the murder capital at the time. I want others to learn from my mistakes and understand my work ethic of never giving up, no matter what it may look like."
Filming will primarily take place in New Orleans.
Queen Latifah, along with New Orleans native Wendell Pierce, have signed on to act in the film.
