THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

A woman wielding a shovel handle was arrested for hitting her ex-boyfriend with a shovel handle.

Florence Robinson, 25, of Thibodaux, was arrested for aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, simple criminal damage to property, and disturbing the peace.

Junius Boyd, Jr., 33, of Thibodaux, was arrested for aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon.

On Sunday, just after 5 p.m., Thibodaux police were called to an Easter Egg hunt in Peltier Park for a report of a man hitting a woman in the head with a baseball bat.

When officers arrived and took control of the scene, it was learned Boyd and Robinson had just ended their relationship earlier in the day.

Witnesses told police that Robinson arrived at the park and confronted Boyd with a shovel handle as he was trying to leave.

As Boyd was leaving, Robinson shattered the back windshield of his vehicle after hitting it with the shovel handle.

When Boyd got out of his car, Robinson struck him in the arm with the same shovel handle.

Boyd then took the shovel handle from Robinson and began hitting her in the head causing a laceration.

Robinson was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

She was arrested after leaving the hospital. Boyd was arrested on the scene.

Both are being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
