Former Saints LB James Laurinaitis announces retirement

James Laurinaitis announced his retirement from the NFL (Source: Michael DeMocker, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune). James Laurinaitis announced his retirement from the NFL (Source: Michael DeMocker, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune).

Linebacker James Laurinaitis is hanging up his cleats for good. The former Ram and Saint linebacker announced his retirement today on his twitter page. 

Laurinaitis signed with the Saints last season but only played in five games before going on injured reserve then getting released. He finished with 17 tackles and one fumble recovery. Before that, he spent seven seasons in St. Louis where he did not miss a game during his time there. He was drafted in the second round of the 2009 draft. He finished his career with 869 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
