LSU improved to 12-2 in the Pontiff Classic with a 3-2 victory over UL-Lafayette Tuesday night in front of a record crowd of 9,963.

The Tigers scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI from Nick Coomes and two RBIs from Kramer Robertson. The Cajuns responded immediately in the top of the fifth with two runs but Robertson minimized the damage by throwing out Handsome Monica at home plate.

Paul Mainieri used eight pitchers on the night including Todd Peterson who got the win and Hunter Newman who closed the contest out. LSU improves to 23-11 heading into their weekend series against Ole Miss.

Cajuns coach Tony Robichaux remains one win shy of 1,100 for his career. UL hosts Arkansas State this weekend.
