THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Thibodaux Police are investigating an incident where a man started a fight at a bar after being criticized of his dance moves. The incident occurred Saturday at 9:46 p.m. on St. Mary Street.

Police say that 34-year-old Cole Rodriguez was dancing on the dance floor, when a person who had been in an on-and-off relationship over the past 21 years began making fun of his dance moves. Rodriguez was offended by the comments and hit the victim multiple times. The victim struck him in the face before bar patrons broke up the fight.

Officers arrived on scene and took Rodriguez into custody. According to police, while Rodriguez was in the back of the police car, he began kicking the back door and window of the car and yelled slurs towards the officer. Once in jail, police say Rodriguez kicked an officer and spit bloody saliva on him. Rodriguez was booked on charges including domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer with force or violence, and battery of a police officer.

He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention center on a $7,500 bond.
