NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Police investigate a robbery that happened at the Family Dollar store at 3612 South Carrollton Avenue on April 16.

Investigators say a man entered the store around 2:25 p.m., and asked the cashier for change for a dollar.

The cashier told the man he would have to wait until she could open the register. When she completed a transaction with another customer and opened the register drawer, the man reached in and tried to snatch money.

The cashier closed the drawer, trapping the man’s hand. She then bit the man on the arm. He was eventually able to free his hand and run from the store. Police say he got away with an unknown amount of money.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of the man. Anyone who can help find him is asked to call NOPD detectives at (504) 658-6020.
