NOPD releases video of man wanted for sexual assault

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Police released surveillance video of a man they say sexually assaulted a woman. 

It happened on April 16, in the 1400 block of Chartres Street.

The victim said she left a local bar around 2:40 in the morning and noticed the man on the sidewalk as she walked down Chartres.

She told police that she sexually assaulted her, stole her purse and then took off running towards Barracks Street. 

Police describe the man as an African American man in his late 20s to early 30s. He's about 5'10" and weighs approximately 180 to 190 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a white crew neck t-shirt and blue jeans.
