GRETNA, LA (WVUE) -

Dexter Allen has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. A jury convicted him of gunning down a Metairie father and son inside their home.

Allen was convicted last October of killing David and Nicholas Pence in April 2015.

He entered their home after committing almost two dozen car burglaries.

He shot the father and son to death in their living room, then made off with a purse and cell phone.

David's wife and Nicholas' mother, Elizabeth, was sleeping at the time and discovered the aftermath, just as Nicholas was taking his last breath.

She testified Thursday, begging the judge to put away Allen for life without parole.

Her daughter called Allen a monster on the stand.

Allen's attorney argues he was only 17 at the time of the killings and could possibly be rehabilitated.
