KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

Drivers in Kenner will have to prepare for more delays.

State officials now say roadwork to repair northbound Williams Boulevard at Veterans Boulevard will require overnight lane closures through Thursday night.

Drivers will experience alternating lane closures from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Work is expected to end Friday morning.

The work is to repair a sinkhole that formed on Williams Blvd. in December when workers punctured a 12-inch water main while working on a fiber optic project.

Over the weekend, crews repaired the damaged asphalt. This week's work will include replacing loop detectors that operate the traffic signals and installing permanent road striping.

Drivers are asked to avoid the intersection during the evening closures.
