Burglar breaks in through ceiling, ransacks store to get out

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A burglar who made his way into a New Orleans business through the ceiling quickly found himself scrambling to find a way out.

The NOPD is looking for the man caught on surveillance video inside the store in the 2800 block of South Claiborne Avenue.

The video shows the suspect as he breaks through the ceiling and lowers himself inside on what looks to be a wire or rope around 12:40 a.m. on April 17.

Once inside though, the burglar alarm went off and the man ransacked the store in his increasingly frantic attempt to escape.

He climbs back into the ceiling and again drops into the store.

Police say he eventually found an exit and took off on foot.

If you can help detectives identify the man seen in the video, contact any Sixth District detective at 504-658-6060 or call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
