Man convicted of shooting St. Charles Parish officer sentenced to 40 years

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A judge sentenced John Paul Devillier to 40 years in jail without the benefit of parole or probation, according to a court worker.

Devillier was convicted of shooting a St. Charles Parish corporal directing traffic in a school zone.

Prosecutors said Devillier became angry after Hazeltine refused to stop traffic for him on Highway 90.

Hazeltine survived being shot in the arm, chest, and eye.
