(WVUE) -

A noticeable southerly breeze will develop today along with some cloud cover.

Humidity and temperatures will also increase with highs climbing into the mid-80s. The skies will stay mostly dry throughout the day.

The best chance for scattered showers will be overnight as a weak front approaches the area. There is a small chance for a strong storm mainly north of Lake Pontchartrain.

The rain will be mostly gone before 6 a.m. Thursday. Clouds will gradually give way to sun and highs will reach the low to mid-80s.

Friday and Saturday will feature the warmest weather so far this year with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

A southerly breeze will begin to crank up again on Friday evening, and it will be downright windy over the weekend.

In addition, there could be a few stray storms on Saturday, but the best chance for widespread storms this week will come on Sunday. There is the possibility of strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening hours.

Drier and slightly cooler air arrives for the beginning of next week.
