(WVUE) - Former LSU Tiger and New Orleans native Leonard Fournette has been drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the fourth pick overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Fournette is a former running back for the LSU Tigers and a former standout at St. Augustine High School. The 6'1", 240 pound running back declared himself for the draft after his junior year.
It was predicted that Fournette would be drafted in the first round in the top ten. According to ESPN, he entered the draft as a top five draft pick with a draft score of 93.
Fournette is known for his strength on the field and his ability to fight off defenders. Despite his size, Fournette ran a 4.51 in the 40-yard dash during LSU's Pro Day.
Fournette finished his 2016 season at LSU with 129 carries for 843 yards and eight touchdowns. A chronic ankle injury caused him to sit out a few games during the season including the team's appearance at the Citrus Bowl.
