NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the city will wait to remove three remaining Confederate Era monuments until after Jazz Fest, according to a report from our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.
But the city's promised take down of the statues could begin next week with Jefferson Davis in Mid-City, Landrieu said.
With Jazz Fest going on at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, New Orleans police will focus on security for that event, Landrieu said.
"There's a gap in between Jazz Fast, so something might happen next week," Landrieu was quoted as saying.
Jazz Fest is not open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
