NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Facing financial problems because of its tax credit businesses, First NBC Bank has been closed by the commissioner of financial institutions after it was placed under his conservatorship by the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

Through an agreement with the FDIC, First NBC Bank will be acquired by Whitney Bank, based out of Gulfport, MS.

All transactional deposit accounts will be immediately transferred to Whitney Bank.

On Saturday, First NBC Bank customers will be able to access their accounts at any of the former bank locations that were normally open on Saturday.

Customers of both banks should continue to use their existing branches until Whitney Bank fully integrates the deposit records of First NBC Bank.

Customers of First NBC Bank can continue to access their accounts through ATM transactions, checks and debit cards.
