NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The weekend begins with wind and coastal flood advisories. We should expect gusts over 40 mph at times especially near the Lake and Gulf into Sunday morning. This also means tides will run 1-2 feet above normal this weekend at high tide. High tides are from late morning to early afternoon the next couple of days.
All of this is leading up to a good chance for rain and storms on Sunday. Some of the rain will be heavy and there is also a slight risk for severe weather as well. The greatest threat will be damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The best chance for storms will be around noon Sunday until sunset. Stay tuned throughout the weekend for further updates.
Dry and slightly cooler air arrives Monday and for part of Tuesday. Another strong storm is possible by Wednesday and Thursday of next week with heavy rain a possibility.
