Sports Minute: Here is the latest Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi sports news from The Associated Press

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Drew Brees threw for a touchdown and ran for another, Mark Ingram rushed for a score and the New Orleans Saints overcame several mistakes to beat the Green Bay Packers 26-17. Will Lutz kicked two second-half field goals, including a 44-yarder for a 19-17 lead with 10:26 left in the game. The Packers lost their first game with Brett Hundley starting at quarterback for the injured Aaron Rodgers.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - On a day that Ezekiel Elliott had the most productive game of his career, Dak Prescott threw three TD passes and ran for another and Dallas' defense dominated San Francisco, little-known safety Jeff Heath might have put up the most impressive performance of the day. Forced into emergency kicking duties after Dan Bailey went down with a right groin injury in the second half, Heath made two of three extra points in the Cowboys' 40-10 victory over the 49ers on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Anthony Davis scored 27 points, DeMarcus Cousins had 20 and the New Orleans Pelicans withstood a furious rally to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 119-112 for their first victory of the season. The Pelicans led by 22 points in the second quarter and were still up by double figures heading into the final period, but the Lakers made a charge despite a poor shooting night from rookie Lonzo Ball.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama is unbeaten, scarcely challenged and dominating on both sides of the ball. Now, the top-ranked Crimson Tide gets an open date to ready for the stretch run. The team expects bigger tests ahead with LSU, Auburn and Mississippi State on the schedule.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Martin Truex Junior overcame two early mistakes to win a wild playoff elimination race at Kansas Speedway on Sunday. It was an emotional victory for his Furniture Row Racing team following the death of a crew member. Kurt Busch was second in Kansas City.

Looked like word of the second coming of Aaron Rodgers didn't materialize. The reason why had as much to do with Mike McCarthy's decision as it did the Saints defense of him.

Jim Henderson's Commentary: Saints beat Packers

For way too long, the saints usually couldn't win without a stellar performance from Drew Brees in a “score fest. But yesterday they did, and recently they have, because in the midst of this four-game winning streak that has them surprisingly atop the NFC South, he hasn't had to.
