(WVUE) -

Even with missing most of training camp and three preseason games, Stephone Anthony still got the nod to make the Saints 53-man roster. The former first-round pick had a disappointing year two with the Black and Gold, but Coach Payton is convinced he can contribute in year three.

"It was limited exposure. Obviously we have enough experience with him. We're continuing to work with him, develop him," said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton. "He wants to be out there more than anyone. When you have the type of injury he had with an ankle, you got to get it well, and rehab it. Hopefully he's healthy as we start now."

Anthony is one of six linebackers on the roster along with Alex Anzalone, A.J. Klein,Craig Robertson, Nate Stupar, and Manti Te'o.
