Starting off with multiple wins in the first four games is a good indicator if the Saints will make the playoffs. The numbers bear that out over the last four seasons on Airline Drive.

In 2013, the Saints opened the campaign with five straight wins, finishing the regular season 11-5. In 2014, 2015, and 2016 the Saints finished the regular season 7-9. All three of those seasons the Black and Gold started 1-3.

Coach Payton is well aware of a quick start, leading to possible postseason success.

"We've spent a lot of time going through our history. Talked a lot about the first quarter of our schedule. As you get closer, the focus is on week one. The appreciation of having that sense of urgency, and being to able to start fast, it's certainly something we spent quite a bit of time on," said Sean Payton.

The Saints open their 2017 season in Minnesota on Monday night.
