The dynamic location independent American/Australian couple who live, work and travel full-time from their motorhome have arrived in Alaska, their 50th USA state visited in a little over 3 years, proving that extensive travel is still possible while working full-time. The Bennetts also just celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary and have been living in an RV for almost as long as they lived in their former Colorado home.

Forty something business and marketing professionals turned digital nomads, Marc and Julie Bennett are advocates for adventure who like to challenge and inspire others to think creatively and bravely about how they, too, can find ways to unplug from societal norms, find ways to work remotely and travel to get more out of life.

Their website RVLove.com, YouTube videos and social media channels have already attracted over 30,000 people and they were recently cast to appear in a Motion Picture Film RV Nomads which is currently in production and due for release in 2018. The Bennetts have continued to find ways to turn their passion for RVing and travel into an increasingly valuable resource to help others, with the launch of the online RV Success School to help wannabe RVers prepare and plan for such a major lifestyle change.

After visiting all of the lower 48 states with their RV, the couple flew to Hawaii last December and just visited Alaska by cruise ship from Vancouver BC to Seward, AK, on Holland America Line’s Ms Noordam. They traveled via Alaska Railroad to spend 3 days in Anchorage.

“While the majority of our travel is by RV, we recommend taking a break every now and then to explore other travel options, like cruising or flying” says Julie. “Living in an RV affords you the freedom and flexibility to base yourself anywhere you choose so you can take advantage of travel deals at short notice. You could be near an airport and snag a cheap flight, or a cruise port like Vancouver, BC, where we set sail from last Sunday.”

“We have been excited to see Alaska for a long time and it felt like the perfect way to wrap up our 50 states milestone. When we saw the Holland America cruise deal, we booked it right away and set sail 4 days later!”

“The cruise was a fantastic way to get a taste of the beauty and wilderness of Alaska without having to spend so much time planning, preparing and driving to get there as we would in our RV which requires about a 3 month time commitment to really make the most of the long journey” explained Marc. “We got right up close to glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park and Seward and visited ports that aren’t easily accessible by RV, like Ketchikan and Juneau.”

With such a large attentive audience following their travels, the couple are often asked about their future travel plans. “We actually never set out to achieve 50 states in a set timeframe, it happened quite organically as we really value work/life balance.” says the recently retired full time employee. “We won’t stop traveling and we won’t stop RVing, but we are exploring a few different options that will change the way we travel in 2018 and we hope to reveal those plans to our audience by end of 2017.”

Since embarking on their travels in June 2014, Marc and Julie have visited more than 30 of the 59 national parks, including Glacier Bay National Park and Kenai Fjords National Park. They mostly stay in RV Parks and campgrounds and often dry camp without utilities. So far they have summered in Maine, wintered in Arizona, hiked Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, snorkeled in the Florida Keys, driven into Canada, walked across the border into Mexico and visited Australia.

And while some friends and family expressed concern about them leaving their 1800sqf townhome in Colorado to live in a 350sqf home on wheels, most have since changed their tune.

“Most people who doubted our decision to live in an RV have now seen first hand what a positive impact this lifestyle of travel has had on our health and wellbeing” says Marc. “The fact that we have been able to do all this while still working, living within our means, and still save for retirement tends to impact a lot of people – it’s definitely not ‘normal’ but it’s totally do-able.”

“Our travels and experiences have truly been amazing, but by sharing our journey, we’ve been able to inspire a lot of others to do the same, and that’s by far the biggest reward for us.”

The digital nomads plan to continue exploring the USA and beyond by RV indefinitely and even have plans for international travel by RV.

“We just can’t imagine going back to our old life” says Marc. “There are so many more roads to travel and over 20 more National Parks to see in the USA alone, not to mention Canada. We eel we’re just scratching the surface and glad we started so young so we can see as much of it as we can. It’s an amazing life and it is our hope that by sharing our journey, it will inspire more people to consider the different ways they can bring more travel, fun and freedom into their life.”
