Panel seeking property for boat launch in St. Charles Parish

ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The West Bank Boat Launch Citizens Advisory Panel is seeking available properties on the West Bank of the parish to serve as potential sites for a public boat launch.

The committee is seeking property owners interested in donating, selling or long term leasing their land to St. Charles Parish, according to a news release issued by the panel.

Any property owners interested are asked to contact the committee by calling (985) 783-5102 or emailing cmfaucheux@stcharlesgov.net by Nov. 30.

The mission of St. Charles Parish government is to provide high quality, efficient services to sustain and enhance the quality of life for all residents of St. Charles Parish.

This comes after controversy of a councilwoman's involvement.

Councilwoman Mary Clulee sold her nephew land and in the parish that would likely be considered for the location of the boat launch.

The lease agreement used 32 acres of Clulee's nephew's newly acquired marshland, and called for monthly payments of $4,500 for the next 30 years, a total of $1.6 million.

State ethics code prohibits Clulee from doing business directly with the parish. She said that is why she sold it to her nephew.
