NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A former New Orleans police officer pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual battery against victims under the age of 13, according to
Marcellus White was originally accused of more than a dozen sex crimes against young boys. He was sentenced Monday to 25 years in jail as part of a plea agreement, the report said. White will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
White was arrested in September 2016 for allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile family member. He was later rebooked on 16 new counts, including first-degree rape, second-degree rape.
White was also a karate instructor and head of the Beta Club.
A clerk in Criminal District Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier's courtroom said the plea agreement was also agreed upon by the victims' in order to avoid painful testimony in court.
