Former NOPD officer sentenced in sex abuse case

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A plea agreement leads to a prison sentence of 25 years for the former NOPD officer accused of more than a dozen sex crimes against boys.

Marcellus White resolved his case October 30 by pleading guilty to five counts of sexual battery against victims under the age of 13.

Investigators arrested White in 2016r, after a relative reported being raped at the the former officer's apartment. More victims came forward after that.

"This court has agreed to this plea agreement, at the request of the state and defense counsel, so as to spare the victims and their families the ordeal of a trial," said Criminal District Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier. "What you have done is reprehensible." Judge Flemings-Davillier notes this sentence includes lifetime registration as a sex offender.
