3 people escape from Harvey house fire

HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - Three people escaped a morning house fire in Harvey. The family dog was killed and other pets are unaccounted for, according to the Harvey Volunteer Fire Dept.

The fire happened at a home in the 1900 block of Bayou Oaks Drive around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbors called authorities after they saw flames shooting from the home. The family said the neighbors saw the flames before their smoke alarms sounded.

The fire started on the bottom floor of the home, and officials are worried the house would collapse.

Firefighters said the second floor of the home was engulfed in flames.

There were no injuries reported, although the three people inside may have inhaled some smoke.
