Traffic stop leads to officer-involved shooting in Roseland

ROSELAND, La. - A traffic stop in Roseland led to an officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon.

Around 2:16 PM, a Roseland police officer initiated a traffic stop on Bennett Road.

During the stop the officer discharged his firearm.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, according to a release from the Roseland Police Department.

The suspect surrendered to Louisiana State Police Detectives at the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

No injuries were sustained by the suspect or officer, and no property was damaged.

Criminal charges are pending further investigation.
