Two charged with attempted murder in Thibodaux shooting

THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Two people were injured and two suspects were charged in a shooting in Thibodaux, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Department.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said the shooting occurred in the Marydale community in Thibodaux on Tuesday afternoon.

The injuries are not life-threatening, according to Webre.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office received a call about the shooting at around 4:40 p.m., and deputies responded to the scene.

Deondre Holmes,23, and Jovonta Johnson, 24,both of Thibodaux, were arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

Through investigation, detectives learned a man and his sister were sitting in a gray sedan parked in the 400 block of Carol Street.

Holmes and Johnson, traveling in a white sedan, approached from the rear. Shots were reportedly fired by occupants of both vehicles.

One of the rounds struck the woman in the right thigh, and one round struck Johnson in the head. Neither injury is considered life-threatening.

The female victim drove the gray sedan to Plymouth Street, and she was then transported to the hospital. Investigators made contact with Holmes and Johnson at the hospital.

Holmes and Johnson were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Their bonds were set at $150,000 each.

Both are also being held for Louisiana probation and parole.
