The NFL dished out monthly awards for October performances and the Saints' 4-0 mark has been rewarded with an individual recognition.

Marshon Lattimore was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month on Thursday for a spell that saw him intercept two passes, including one which he returned for a touchdown, and break up another five passes. While Reggie Bush won the offensive version of this award in 2006, a Saints rookie defender has not been recognized since Darren Howard in 2000.

Lattimore said of the award Thursday "It means a lot. I'm not going to sit here and act like I don't recognize what's going on. I love getting that recognition for my play but I would enjoy getting a Super Bowl. Just gotta keep getting better as a team, as a unit, as a DB unit, make sure we come out with some wins."

The Ohio State product was drafted 11th overall by the Saints in April. September's defensive rookie award went to fellow cornerback Tre'Davious White from LSU, whose Bills host the black and gold in week ten.

Sean Fazende will have an in-depth film breakdown of Lattimore on Thursday night's Game Plan at 10:35 p.m. on FOX 8.

Alvin Kamara did it all last season for Sean Payton's offense, and that's why he's No. 2 on our ranking the Saints countdown. Kamara burst onto the scene, mesmerized saints fans, and the entire NFL with his unique running style. His stat line, amazing: 728 yards rushing, averaged over six yards per carry, with  eight touchdowns. He also added 81 catches with five touchdowns. All the while playing just 45 percent of the Saints offensive snaps. Kamara ran away with the NFL's Off...more>>
