(WVUE) -

Edna Karr and Warren Easton each entered Thursday night's showdown at Tad Gormley with unblemished district records and only one loss on the season but at the end of the outing, there was no question the superior team.

The Cougars jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the second quarter and cruised to a 40-6 victory proving that their title defense of Class 4A is a legitimate one. Skyler Perry led the purple-and-gold with four total touchdowns and the defense held Easton to their lowest output of the season.

After the game, coach Brice Brown cautioned his team about the road ahead "In the playoffs, we're going to expect good teams. 4A is a quality division and we're going to have to come to work every week. We're still young and we're still getting used to learning how to win so we're going to go back to the drawing board on Saturday and we'll enjoy this one for tonight though."

FOX 8 Football Friday has highlights and scores from all around South Louisiana starting this week at 10:18 p.m.

We've now hit the difficult part of the countdown, determining two through five. A case could be made that Marshon Lattimore could be the second-highest player on this list, but Monday he comes in at No. 5.

SEC Media Days means a lot of football talk, but nothing in terms of actual football on the field. The Tigers have seen where they stand on paper, but they're anxious to prove everyone wrong once the season starts.
