Police make arrest in fatal shooting at birthday party in Kenner

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Kenner Police have made an arrest in shooting that left one man dead. Police took 17-year-old Renee Kevon Holloway into custody, Sunday. The shooting claimed the life of 18-year-old Jontrell Wells.

According to the Kenner Police Department, an off-duty Kenner Police Officer was working detail at a Sweet 16 party being held at the Council on Aging Building in the 600 block of Compromise St.

Police say at approximately 10:45 p.m., the officer was alerted to a possible disturbance near the intersection of 6th St. and Compromise St. While the officer was investigating the complaint, shots rang out.

The officer found a male shot at the location and began to administer CPR to the victim. The victim was then transported to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
