ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A man shot his estranged girlfriend to death before leading police on a vehicle chase that ended with the gunman killing himself.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday evening, a resident at 26100 block of East Elm St. in Lacombe called 911 to report that she believed her ex-boyfriend, whom she had a protective order against, was a passenger in a pickup truck that had followed her home. Moments after that call, dispatchers received a call from another individual who was at the scene. That individual reported the 28-year-old victim had been shot.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Shortly after, a patrol deputy located the pickup truck in question heading eastbound on Hwy 190 near Thompson Rd. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the truck gave chase, leading deputies on a pursuit to a residence at 511 Garrett's Prime Run, Pearl River.
At this location, deputies detained the driver, Leslie Davis. The passenger, John Malveaux fled on foot, entered the residence and shot himself.
Malveaux was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Davis has been charged with principal to the commission of a crime, first-degree murder, for his involvement in this crime. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
