NOPD investigating homicide in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in New Orleans East.

Officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Yorktown Drive around 1:37 a.m.

Seventh District officers responded to the call of an aggravated battery by shooting. When they arrived they found a male victim lying face down in the doorway of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later died from his injuries, according to NOPD.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
