Thousands still without power on West Bank

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Entergy is reporting that thousands of their customers in the West Bank are still without power after a car crashed into a substation Thursday night.

There are still around 4,641 people without power around Westwego, Marrero and Bridge City.

According to Nola.com | The Times-Picayune, The Jefferson Parish Public School System announced on Facebook that five schools were sending students home early due to the power outages. 

Those schools were:

  • Butler Elementary
  • Thibodeaux Elementary
  • Pitre Elementary
  • Worley Middle
  • Patrick F. Taylor Academy.

Entergy crews are working to restore power, according to the company's website.
