METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

Drive-thru groceries are coming to the New Orleans Metro Area.

Walmart is opening a new grocery pickup location at the corner of Focis St. and Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie. The spot is expected to open by the end of the year.

Walmart is turning the former Whitney Bank branch into a distribution center with drive-thru lanes.

Construction on the building should start this month.

Shoppers will be able to order from an online menu of more than 30,000 items, including meat, dairy, seafood, health and toiletry products. There is no additional cost for the service.
