Juan's World: I'm a Saints believer

(WVUE) -

Welcome in to Juan's World and I guess it's time for me to come clean on being a Saints believer. After Sunday's win in Buffalo, I'm sold on not only how good this team is, but also on how good they can be and how far they can go this season.

It wasn't just that the Saints went into Buffalo, with a chill in the air, and beat the Bills. It's 'how' they did it. With a desire to put their foot on the necks of a Bills team that was previously undefeated at home.

This game had all the makings of a Bills win. They had a week and a half to prepare for the Saints. They were a turnover machine on their home field and they created one against the Saints Sunday.

But, no one told the Saints that they were supposed to be the inferior team today. If anything, the Saints came in thinking they were the team to beat. And they played like it from start to finish.

They ran the ball more than they threw it. Two hundred and 98-yards on the ground and a team record six rushing touchdowns. It was the kind of dominating performance that we haven't seen since they beat the Buccaneers 41-0 back in 2012. Yes, it's been that long. So excuse me for it taking this kind of performance to get me on-board with this team.

I've been waiting on reality to set in and I guess it has. This is a good Saints team. Is it a great team? I'm not sure. Are they as good as the 2009 Super Bowl winning team? That remains to be seen but there are similarities. Both teams created turnovers on the regular. Both put up plenty of points. And the other common denominator, they both have a head coach with his swagger back. Sean Payton is coaching with a renewed vigor and it's spread to his team.

So, with all of that, I'm excited about what could be with the Saints this season. They're good. But, time will tell if they can be great again. In the meantime, I'm a believer and I'm enjoying the ride.

Juan's World, Juan's World...Excellent!!!
