KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

A Laplace man was arrested and charged in connection to a shooting that resulted from an altercation during a kids football game.

On Sunday Kenner Police Officers responded to the shooting outside the Malcolm Kenner Apartments. When officers arrived, they learned an altercation escalated to the shooting of a nineteen-year-old male.

The victim had been struck in the leg, according to police.

The victim was transported to Ochsner Main Campus where he was treated and released.

From witnesses, officers learned that there was a disturbance involving young children who was playing football.  It escalated into a fight and adults became involved.

Reginald Tezeno, 41, was named as the suspect who shot the gun, according to Kenner police.

Police say the projectile ricocheted off the ground and stuck the nineteen-year-old in the leg, who was not the intended target.

Tezeno was found inside an apartment within the complex and taken into custody.

Tezeno was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm. He remains in custody, and no bond has been set.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning the shooting to call Kenner Police Detective Mike Jackson at (504) 712-2283, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
