CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) - St. Bernard Parish deputies issue a warrant for a drunk driving suspect they say escaped from an ambulance on the way to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
Investigators say 34-year-old Renzoll Marrero crashed his vehicle into a pole on St. Bernard Highway in Chalmette on November 11.
They say Marrero had three young children in the vehicle who were not injured in the accident.
Deputies at the scene called an ambulance because they say Marrero was disoriented, his speech was slurred and at times he was unable to respond to commands. He told the deputies he suffers from seizures.
On the way to a hospital in New Orleans, Marrero escaped from the rear of the ambulance and got away on foot.
Deputies are seeking Marrero on a long list of violations including DWI, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and three counts of cruelty to a juvenile.
