NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

7th Ward residents complain an abandoned home that burned down in their neighborhood November 14 was blighted for years.

They believe their constant complaints about what was happening near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Saint Bernard Avenue were ignored.

The City of New Orleans says it eliminated more than 15,000 blighted units between 2010 and 2015. This year, the city has approved 137 properties to be part of the FEMA demolition program.

City leaders want you to call 311 to report a blight problem.
