The Green Project expansion opens on America Recycles Day

Green Project grand reopening

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Green Project celebrated America Recycles Day by holding a grand re-opening of its salvage store.

The store, located at 2831 Marais Street in the Bywater; collects, organizes, and sells discarded construction material and prevents tons of debris from ending up in a landfill.

The organization also holds workshops to help people come up with ideas on how to turn the construction debris into new items, like centerpieces, end tables, and Christmas gifts.

The Green Project is also the only place on the Gulf Coast that recycles paint and will collect paint on a daily basis for its recycling process.

The group sells the recycled paint at a deep discount as well as windows, doors, lumber, and fixtures, to help offset costs for people using recycled goods to renovate or build.
