(WVUE) - Wednesday morning, Coach Sean Payton said talk of the Super Bowl is toxic to his locker room. Quarterback Drew Brees echoed his coaches thoughts, focus on the moment and don't look ahead.
The Saints lead the NFC South, and possess a seven-game winning streak, but the Black and Gold still have seven games left in the regular season.
"We haven't played our best football," said Brees. "The challenges only become greater as we go along here. The ultimate goal this season was not to be 7-2. The ultimate goal is to continue to win, and put ourselves in a position to win the division, and go to the playoffs, and see what happens. I like the track we're on. We're an ascending team. We continue to get better every week."
The Saints (7-2) host Washington (4-5) Sunday in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
