SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

St. Tammany Parish firefighters are investigating a fire that damaged part of a home in the French Branch Subdivision in Slidell. Crews were called to the scene Saturday around 11:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Rue De La Paix.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the 3,000 square foot home. Crews had the fire under control in 25 minutes.

According to a St. Tammany Parish fire spokesperson, a passerby woke up the homeowners and alerted them of the fire before dialing 911. Firefighters believe the fire started in the garage before spreading into the attic.

No injuries were reported and no other homes were damaged as a result of the fire. The spokesperson adds that there were working smoke alarms inside the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
