LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) - A Laplace woman was arrested Friday for cruelty after police say a juvenile was found wandering alone and in poor health.
Lawanda Wilson, 46, was arrested Nov. 17 after officers responded to a home on Grant Drive in LaPlace in reference to a juvenile who was found wondering the area, alone and in poor health.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that the juvenile and a sibling were being physically and mentally abused by their stepmother. Following medical treatment, both children were released into the care of other family members.
Wilson was arrested and charged for two counts of second degree cruelty to juveniles. Wilson was released from custody Saturday, Nov. 18 on a $60,000 bond.
