Vote recount begins for District B council seat

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Votes in a closely contested race for The New Orleans City Council will be recounted Tuesday.

There were only 131 votes that separated Jay Banks from his opponent Seth Bloom in the race for the District B council seat, currently being held by mayor-elect LaToya Cantrell.

Bloom called for the recount, stating that absentee ballots were thrown out and that he wants an investigation.

The recount will begin at 9 a.m.
