Mandeville man dies in single-vehicle accident

MANDEVILLE, LA (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Mandeville man Friday morning.

STPSO deputies were dispatched to Lowe Davis Road near Highway 59 in the Abita area shortly after 5:00 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle in a ditch.

Deputies and emergency personnel from Acadian Ambulance attempted life-saving measures, but the driver, 20-year-old William Meredith, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff.

Police said that Meredith was not wearing a seatbelt at time of the crash.

Toxicology reports are pending from the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
