KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

Three teenagers are in custody after Kenner Police say they robbed a teen in Metairie and two people in Kenner at gunpoint early Friday morning.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputies reported an armed robbery and shooting near the intersection of Kentwood Street and Waldo Street around 3:30 a.m.

According to JPSO, a teen met up with a friend who was inside of a vehicle with two others. The teen got inside of the vehicle and the group rode to the intersection of Kentwood St. and Waldo St. There, two of the teens pulled guns on the victim, demanded his property and told him to get out of the vehicle.

The victim complied and as he was running away, one of the teens opened fire on the victim striking him in the arm.

Deputies say the teen's injury is not considered life-threatening.

Shortly after, Kenner Police responded to an armed robbery that occurred near the intersection of Georgetown Drive and Dartmouth Place.

A male and a female told police that while they were walking, a white Chevrolet Malibu stopped on the street near them. Two males exited the suspect vehicle from the passenger side and approached the victims.

The suspects first asked for money for gas, when one of the male suspects produced a handgun with an extended magazine and pushed the barrel of the gun into the chest of the male victim.

The second male suspect then grabbed the female victim and placed a handgun to her head. Both victims were robbed of their cell phones, keys, and $20.00. Both victims were then instructed to turn and walk away.

During a search of the neighborhood, a Kenner Police Officer observed the vehicle as it traveled on Clemson Place in Kenner.

The car fled leading officers on a chase that ended at Ole Miss Drive and East Oglethorpe Place where the two passengers fled the vehicle leading officers on a foot pursuit.

Darnell Nelson, 18,  was driving the vehicle and was detained. Officers also apprehended 17-year-old Cornell Woods and a 15-year-old male juvenile during the foot chase.

On scene, all three were positively identified by the victims. Officers recovered a .45 caliber and 9 millimeter.

Nelson is charged with armed robbery, aggravated flight from an officer, no driver’s license, and possession of marijuana.

Woods is charged with armed robbery and flight from an officer.

The 15-year-old male juvenile was charged with the crimes of armed robbery, and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

No bond has been set for Darnell Nelson or Cornell Woods who was transferred to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.  The 15-year-old juvenile was transferred to the Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center.

The Kenner Police Department believes these three suspects were involved in an earlier armed robbery that occurred near the intersection of Kenwood Avenue and Waldo Street in Metairie which is presently under investigation by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
