(WVUE) - On the heels of being named Western Conference Player of the Week, Anthony Davis was ejected for the first time in his career Wednesday with the Pelicans trailing the Timberwolves by three points at the end of the second quarter.
Davis received his first technical foul after an offensive possession where he felt he should have been granted free throw attempts for contact by Minnesota big man Karl Anthony-Towns during a Davis shot attempt. On the ensuing defensive possession, Davis was called for contact with Anthony-Towns on a rebound attempt and immediately directed his frustration toward a referee. While being restrained by his teammates, including Rajon Rondo, Jrue Holiday and DeMarcus Cousins, Davis was sent off for the first time in his career. He threw his headband into the crowd while on the court and removed his jersey before reaching the tunnel.
Davis logged 17 points and five rebounds in his 17 minutes of play.
