Carnival Triumph cruise canceled due to engine problems

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A Carnival Cruise ship headed back from the West Caribbean to New Orleans was delayed because it lost engine power.

The ship is scheduled to dock at 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to a letter sent to passengers.

Carnival said the Triumph, which was scheduled to leave port again Thursday, will remain docked.

The four-night cruise has been canceled because of the propulsion issues with the ship. Passengers have been contacted.

They will receive a full refund and 25-percent off a future cruise.

Guests on the current cruise will be allowed to stay on the ship overnight and should receive new flight details back to their destinations. They will also reimburse some customers for change fees in airline reservations.

Passengers should email guestcare@carnival.com.
