NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating a crash on Highway 11 that left three people dead including an unborn baby. Officers were called to the scene on the Hwy. 11 bridge flyover, around 9:12 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, a 44-year-old man was driving a pickup truck north on the bridge flyover. As the truck drove on the bridge, it crossed the center line and into the path of a southbound car. The truck collided head-on with the car. The 34-year-old male driver of the car and his seven-month pregnant 29-year-old female passenger were taken to the hospital where the man, woman and unborn baby were all pronounced dead as a result of their injuries.

The driver of the truck was brought to the NOPD Traffic office for testing while his female passenger was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. The results from the blood and alcohol tests are pending.

The investigation into the crash continues. If you have any information that could help police with this case, you are asked to call NOPD Traffic Fatality Investigator Danny Ellis at 504-658-6210.
