KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A Kenner teenager accused of attacking an elderly couple with a hammer is expected in court Monday.

Vincenzo "Jake" Randazzo, 16, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder relating to the attack that killed 89-year-old Phillip Lynch, and severely injured Phillip's wife Anita.

Randazzo is set for a status hearing in Gretna.

Last month, a judge ruled Randazzo competent to stand trial. A forensic psychiatrist said he found no evidence of Randazzo having an active mental diseases or defect.

Randazzo will be tried as an adult, but will not be eligible for the death penalty.
