NOPD investigating third shooting in New Orleans East, fatality reported

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a third shooting that happened Monday morning in New Orleans East.

According to NOPD, the victim, a 21-year-old, was shot in the shoulder.

The second shooting happened at the intersection of Tynecastle and Pressburg around 3:40 a.m. 

A 20-year-old male was shot in the ankle and was transported to a local hospital in a private vehicle, according to NOPD.

Around  7:21 a.m. NOPD was dispatched to the 4900 block of Major Drive in reference to an unclassified death.

Police confirmed the shooting was fatal, but no further information has been released at this time.

All three locations are within a half mile distance of each other.

Police are unsure if the shootings are connected at this time.
